Do all oriental rugs need to be dry cleaned?

Some oriental rugs can be steam cleaned. We test them for colour stability and shrinkage. Check the tag on the rug, it will indicate if the area rug needs to be dry cleaned.
If the tag is not there or readable. Wet an inconspicuous area of the rug, if it smells like a wet dog, the carpet is wool, or contains a high percentage of natural fibres. Dry clean this area rug. If the rug shows signs of colour bleed, the oriental rug should be dry cleaned.
Not all oriental rugs are really hand made, hand dyed oriental rugs. Most oriental rugs that you buy at Sears or Walmart, are just regular rugs, manufactured in the style of oriental rugs.
Not many people even know that the oriental rug they bought was indeed a knock-off.
