After having your carpets steam cleaned, its best if they drive with 12 hours.
In the summertime, turn up your air conditioner, as your air conditioner is actually a dehumidifier. If it is not hot enough outside, then simply open the windows. It would even help to turn on the bathroom fans, the exhaust and circulate the air in your house.
In the winter, turn up the heat, and open a few windows for the hot air to escape. Generally your furnace generates dry heat, which is good for drying out your carpets.
Don't worry about moving your furniture around to let the carpets dry underneath. If you have a piece of furniture that is flat, usually the carpet cleaner will raise this furniture off the carpet with styrofoam.
Can you still walk on the carpet? Absolutely, but remember walking from the carpet to the kitchen tiles will be hazardous, as your damp feet, will slip very quickly.
What happens if the carpets take longer than 24 hours to dry? Let your carpet cleaner know, ask him to bring in fans to help with the drying process.
What happens if your carpets take longer than 48 hours to dry? Let your carpet cleaner know, and let him know that if the carpet develops mold, you may have to make an insurance claim. This will encourage your carpet cleaner to take responsibility, and take action immediately.
