Are carpet protection products worth it?

• After your carpet is cleaned, the carpet cleaner will typically offer to apply a carpet protection agent, such as teflon or Scotchgard. These types of products are often applied in the process of manufacturing, so it would seem natural that they should be applied after cleaning also.
  
  While there is definite proof that they work, post manufacturing, there is little evidence to suggest that this product works effectively as an aftermarket, post cleaning application.

• We do not offer aftermarket carpet protectors, as there is no definitive proof that these products work. The cost of this application can almost be half of the cost of the cleaning itself.

• In defence of products like Scotchgard here is support from a carpet cleaner in the States that believe it does work.

  Here is a nod for Teflon protector from Enviroclean in the States. Teflon seems to be the new alternative to the conventional Scotchgard for carpets. Enviroclean believes in protecting your carpet with Dupont Teflon protection.
